Well, once again, I've become super slacker mom when it comes to the blog. Now I'm way behind and will do my best to catch up! July was National Family Month for the Gramkows as we visited both our families in Iowa and Kansas. It was so wonderful to see everyone. However, the drive from Far Far Away Fort Worth was less than desirable. Everyone kept asking Ellie did on the 15 hour drive to Iowa...and I kept saying...Ellie? What about ALL of us. All three of us were ready to be out of the car after that long!! But the faithful car made it and we got excellent gas mileage! :)
In Iowa with the Webers...we got to go to the NORTH IOWA FAIR and watch all the cousins show their pigs (we weren't as good as last year, but oh well...Ellie's going to show next year!); We went to the Fourth of July fireworks in Rockwell and ran into old friends; we drug my family to the Fourth of July parade in Clear Lake, we got to experience the awesome Rockwell Aquatics Center (super jealous because I used to be a lifeguard there with the old, yucky pool) ;we spent some time in Minnesota with Wendy and family; Of course stopped at the NICU in Topeka to see Ellie's NICU Family (reunion is in October - so excited); stopped in Belmond to see Grandpa Whipple; Oh, and we got to see some friends from Manhattan and Ankeny along the way to and fro.
In Kansas with the Gramkows...we stopped in Lawrence to eat out with Ben's siblings (actually on our way home from Iowa); we then drove a different weekend in July directly to Meade. This trip was only 8-9 hours, so it was a breeze after the Iowa trip. We stopped and bought Grandpa Gramkow some Texas pecans; we got to go to the Meade pool, the new park and playground; we ate at Bob's (yummy hamburgers) and Ellie had a fun time playing the piano with Grandma and Grandpa Gramkow. We also got to see some friends who live in Meade!
