No Mom...I don't want to sleep...

...Ok, I guess I give into the sleep! This is how I found Ellie when checking on her during nap time today. I had to immediately run and get the camera. Silly Ellie.

One year Check up with Dr. Audrey

Ellie had her 12 month check up with our new pediatrician, Dr.Audrey on September 8. She weighed in at 17 lbs. 4 oz. WAHOO! (Sill in the 3%, but oh well!) She was 29 inches long and this was in the 50th percentile on the growth chart! Her head circumference was 45.7 inches which is also 18 inches. Just to review, she was 15 lbs. 9 oz. and 26 3/4 inches long at her 9 month check. So I guess it proves she is growing even in the big state of Texas!

Of course, we got to go over all of Ellie's medical history. Still weird to think that was a year ago. We're going to follow up with an opthamologist and pulmonologist (for lungs)...I have referrals, now I just need to schedule the appointments! We aren't going to do anything with cardio since our last appointment said to follow up in a couple years. We talked about Ellie's eating and she had some goals for me to get Ellie weaned off the bottle within a couple months, and for sure by her 15 month check in December. So milk in the sippy cup a little more these days! Which is actually working out well because we are on the last few bags of frozen mommy milk. It sure lasted a long time, but I wish it would have lasted a couple more months! Oh well, we only had 17 cubic feet of deep freeze to store it in! Dr.Audrey also wants me to try to be done with baby food in a month and to complete table foods. I think Ellie will adjust well, but now I just have to make sure and cook things she can eat too! Dr. Audrey did some education on toddlers and their behaviors...it was interesting and I had no ideas doctors did that! Ellie also had to have those dreaded shots! She got her MMR, Chx pox vaccine and Hep A. We also decided to both (mom and baby) get our flu shots! Ellie will have go back in 30 days to get her 2nd dose. Dr. Audrey also said Ellie would need to get the H1N1 vaccine once the CDC gets that all in line. I think that was pretty much it for her doctor appointment. Ellie did have a runny nose (she partied so hard at her party, she got sick afterwards!). She's had it since Friday, however, no fever, she's eating fine and sleeping well too. Just have gone through a lot of kleenex wiping that little nose of hers...and of course now she REALLY dreads the blub siringe.

So what is Ellie up to at ONE year?
1. She has four teeth on the top - now the right two pair are finally coming in more. She has two on the bottom, and one more is just cutting on the right.
2. She CLAPS! Lots of smiles and clapping these days!
3. She pulls herself up. Aas a matter of fact, after her morning nap I found her STANDING in her crib.
4. She crawls in speeds now. Low and High. Ususally low is only seen progressing to High. :) She will see something and just go full speed for it. And lately it's been the door stoppers. On my to do list today is: remove all of those!
5. She loves to bang toys together and will jabber too. Making her own music.
6. She still sleeps in the oddest, most flexible postitions! To go to sleep, she's not a cuddler anymore. Sad story there.
7. She is almost to the point where she's done with me feeding her babyfood because she wants to feed herself.
And we'll end with a picture of my two most favoritist people! (check out Ben's new glasses)

I was born at Stormont Vail Health Center

Ellie was born one year ago, September 3, at Stormont Vail Health Center, and entered this world at 2 lbs. 7.5 oz. I remember within the first few days after her birth, I really wanted to buy her something! So my kind husband took me downstairs to the hospital gift shop and this shirt was what I picked out. I remember it seeming so HUGE, but now look...it's her first birthday and she's filling out that t-shirt like a champ!

Vacation Week with the Johnsons

Well, Ellie and company sure had fun sight seeing in good old, Far Far Away Fort Worth, Texas. My sister, Wen and her husband, Greg brought their two sons, Garett and Wyatt on their first airplane ride to Texas for a week! We went to the rainforest cafe, zoo, NRH2O (waterpark), the stockyards, and hung out at the apartment pool! We even got to taste some good food including out to eat BBQ, but some cooking at home too! We made kabobs one night and made pizza for a movie night! And of course, the big BIRTHDAY party was also part of the week's festivities. We were glad to have the Johnson's represent the family! We also invited over the Warrens (or should I say Warner's :), Andersons and Speers. It was a good time, but our apartment was sure full! We were all sad though because within the first 5 minutes of us swimming at the pool, it started lightning! Boo! Oh well, we still were able to enjoy some dinner (BBQ Beef Sandwiches), cake, ice cream and presents! Thanks to all who thought of Ellie on her 1st Birthday! Here are some pictures from the "week with the Johnsons"

I know, I know...it's been a long time!

I can't believe I let the blog go this long un-updated! But in my defense, we didn't have a computer at home for 2 weeks, and even when Ben brought his work computer home, our internet decided it didn't want to work either, my sister and her family were here for a week, and well, to just be honest, I'm just getting back into my routine! So I have a lot of updating to do, and I'll do my best. Thanks Grandma Weber for kindly reminding me that I haven't updated the blog for a while!

Happy 1st Birthday, Ellie Jo Gramkow!

As I went in to check on my sleeping Ellie last night (just because that’s what moms do, they check frequently on their sleeping children, right?), I placed and held my hand on her ribs, near her heart and couldn’t help but think about the long journey the Lord has taken Team Gramkow on this past year. I can remember when Ben and I would place and hold our hands on our baby girl, so she could feel our hands and feel secure. We may not have been able to hold our little princess right away, but we did get to touch her...and with our hands we could feel each breath. And from each breath since that day, one year ago today…we are forever thankful. Thank you, Jesus, for the amazing gift of Ellie Jo. Happy Birthday Baby Girl. Love, your Mommy.

Tomorrow's Ellie's 1st Birthday!

We're excited for ELLIE'S FIRST BIRTHDAY tomorrow! I can't believe it's been a year already! Crazy! We're having a celebration tomorrow night with some friends and the family representative (Wen's fam) with some dinner, cake and ice cream! I'll post more tomorrow morning and include some pictures!

Computer Outage....not cool!

So I apologize for not blogging lately. We are out of a computer :( It's currently getting fixed, but obviously not soon enough! I hope to play a lot of "catch up" when our fixed computer returns!
