Who knew...

So I'm filling out paperwork today and had to refer back to Ellie's birth certificate, whereupon I found new information. Yep, that's right, her birth certificate says that she actually weighed 2 lbs. 7.5 oz. (1120 grams) at birth and was only 15 inches long. Hmm....who knew. As far as we know the time was still the same! Also, it was interesting to note that when Ben called the social security office they were asking him to verify his birthday. When he said May 24, 1983 they said, "well, just so you know, our records show you were born March 24, 1983." Ben responded with a chuckle, but then started to wonder if he really was born in March or not....any thoughts Grandma Gramkow? :)

  1. Ben's Dad filled out the social security paperwork in Dodge City, and his handwriting is terrible. However, that does not excuse the Social Security System, because we had to bring Birthcertificates and shot records and gradecards, etc. to get them to issue the numbers. If you have not done so, you should go ahead and get Ellie one now. The correct Date is indeed May.
I would suggest Ben take his birth certificate and passport to the Social Security Office and get their info corrected. If you do not have a copy of your birth certificate or want additional ones you can walk in to that office in downtown Topeka and get one while you wait, and it is less hassle than trying to do it by mail or on line.

  3. Yes, Ben, you were born in May of 1983. I was there, and remember! It was definitely not March! I also agree with your Mom that you should get it fixed so it is correct and get a number for Ellie. You will need it very soon anyway for tax purposes. Love to all. Aunt Alice
