Project Two

Ellie's second project is to work on eating. The PICC line she now sports on her right arm delivers a steady stream of fluids. In addition, on of the nurses fed her 2 mL of Mandy's milk today. Mandy, as we all knew she would be, is a phenomenal mother. One of her most important tasks right now as a mother is to provide our baby with milk. This is a challenge she is conquering brilliantly. We have had a few visits with the experts from the breast feeding clinic here. They have been very helpful and patient with our questions. They also provided us with a great deal on a pump. Now that Ellie is breathing on her own they are concentrating on her feeding. Since she just received her first milk they are going to wait until it passes through to give her some more.

  1. No matter how frustrated you get at that stupid pump, don't give up that's the best medicine for Ellie. Deep breaths and stay calm and relaxed. Think wonderfully happy thoughts about when you get to take her home and the things that you will be able to show her later on. The Fredericks
